Always-on agent
Make one computer your workspace’s agent. It picks up every Send to Agent by itself and runs Claude Code on it, so nobody has to keep a chat open.
What you need
- A computer that stays on, running macOS or Linux. On Windows, use WSL.
- Node.js 18 or newer. Check with
node -v. To install it, runbrew install node, or get it from nodejs.org. Claude Code, installed and signed in once. If the terminal says
command not found: claude, install it:curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bashThen open a new terminal and run
claudeonce to sign in.- For Build it: git, and the GitHub CLI signed in with access to your repository (run
gh auth loginonce). That is how it opens the pull request. - On a Mac, run the installer in the Terminal app, not in a terminal inside an editor or AI tool. macOS may refuse to start the background service from there.
Set it up
- 1
Run the installer
On that computer, in the Terminal app (on Linux, any terminal):
curl -fsSL https://app.yocoolab.com/agent/install.sh | sh - 2
Sign in
Your browser opens Yocoolab: sign in, pick the workspace it should work for, and click Allow.
- 3
That’s it
It runs in the background (launchd on macOS,
systemd --useron Linux) and starts again after a restart.
The same steps are in Yocoolab, on the Always on tab of app.yocoolab.com/connect.
What happens on each request
- Within seconds of a Send to Agent, the thread gets “⏳ Picked up by Claude Code runner” with the computer’s name.
- For Ask AI, Claude Code replies in the thread. For Build it, it opens a pull request and moves the thread to In Review. A person checks it and closes the thread.
- If a run fails, or takes longer than 30 minutes, it says so in the thread.
- While it runs, everyone in the workspace sees Ask AI and Build in the extension.
- Two or more computers can share the work. A request is never done twice.
What it can do on your computer
- It runs Claude Code with your own Claude login. No API key.
- Claude Code gets only the Yocoolab connection, none of your other MCP servers.
- It has a limited set of tools: file edits in its own work folder (
~/.yocoolab/agent/work), git and gh. - It works on the threads you can see, on projects where you have AI access.
Live sessions: share your localhost
For fast design sessions on what you are building. Your teammates comment on your localhost, the agent edits your own folder, and your dev server shows each change in seconds. No preview deploys, no pull request per comment: the whole session ships as one.
- 1
Go live
Open your app on localhost with the Yocoolab panel (extension 1.9.212 or later), and press Share this localhost. The agent running on your computer finds the project folder from the port, opens a tunnel (no account needed) and adds ● Live: your-name’s localhost to the project’s Links. The panel shows the link, with Copy and Stop.
Or from a terminal, in the project’s folder, with your dev server’s port:
node ~/.yocoolab/agent/yocoolab-agent.mjs live 5173The project is the one that links the folder’s GitHub repository; in the terminal, if none does, add
--project "Project name". - 2
Work together
Teammates open the Live link from Links in Yocoolab and comment as usual. Each Build it on this project edits your folder directly, one request at a time: no branch, no commit, no pull request. The thread gets “Live now” with the link.
- 3
End and ship
Press Stop in the panel (or Ctrl+C in the terminal); the Live link goes away. Then ship everything as one pull request, linked in each request’s thread:
node ~/.yocoolab/agent/yocoolab-agent.mjs ship
- The link works only while the session runs. Anyone with it can open your page, but it cannot be guessed.
- It keeps itself going. If the tunnel drops, a new one opens and the Live link follows it. If another app takes the port, the link shows a Paused page (never that app) until yours is back; while your dev server restarts, it shows Waiting.
- Only that one port is shared. If your app calls an API on another localhost port, send it through your dev server’s proxy.
- The always-on agent has to be running on the same computer (it is, after setup).
Commands
Is it connected and running?
node ~/.yocoolab/agent/yocoolab-agent.mjs statusStop the background service (it stays signed in)
node ~/.yocoolab/agent/yocoolab-agent.mjs uninstallDisconnect: revoke its sign-in and stop it
node ~/.yocoolab/agent/yocoolab-agent.mjs logoutUpdate it to the latest version (safe to run any time)
curl -fsSL https://app.yocoolab.com/agent/install.sh | shYou can also disconnect it from Yocoolab: Settings › Agent tokens › Connected apps, then Disconnect. Open Agent tokens.
Prefer to chat with your agent?
You do not need this to use Yocoolab with an agent. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, VS Code or the Claude app and ask it to work on your threads: see AI Coding Agents.
